Gonzales Begins His Set-Up of McNulty

A number of insiders were predicting yesterday that Gonzales would immediately set up to pin all responsibility for Purgegate on his erstwhile deputy, Paul J. McNulty. And indeed, he began this process immediately. In remarks delivered at the National Press Club, Gonzales went into an extended excursion designed to pin all critical decision-making surrounding the decision to cashier the U.S. attorneys on McNulty. It’s clear that McNulty was in the center of these decisions, but Gonzales was still more deeply involved himself. Gonzales has no honor, and no shame.
