A Reader Notes: Israel and Hamas Already Talking

In response to yesterday’s post, a smart note from a reader that jibes with what I have been told by people on the ground in the region:

It would be worthwhile to point out that anyone who actually believes Israel’s public demagoguery about not talking to Hamas is a fool; Israel and Hamas speak and even negotiate through back channels (including through the U.S. diplomatic service) all the time. Just because the political bigheads aren’t shaking hands on rostrums doesn’t mean they don’t actually communicate.
