Next Year in Jerusalem: Obama Not Waiting to Win Presidency to Start Flip-Flopping

By Ken Silverstein

Referring to Obama’s speech yesterday to AIPAC, reader Ed Moloney comments by email: “Not only a cynical shift but perhaps one of the fastest flip-flops in presidential campaign history.”

Moloney included a link to this May 13 story in Haaretz, which begins:

Daniel Kurtzer, former ambassador to Israel and advisor of U.S. presidential hopeful Barack Obama, said Tuesday that Jerusalem must be included in peace talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. “It will be impossible to make progress on serious peace talks without putting the future of Jerusalem on the table,” Kurtzer said in a conference organized by the Jewish People Policy Planning Institute.

And here’s Obama yesterday: “Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel, and it must remain undivided.”

Bold. Courageous. Independent.
