I just ran an interview with GOP media consultant Tom Edmonds, who thinks McCain still has a shot at winning the election. I had tried to contact a few other Republican consultants, and just got this email from Burke Wood, whose firm produces TV and radio ads for GOP consultants. He was decidedly more downbeat about McCain’s chances:
I think Republicans are toast across the board. McCain’s last hope is that his divided government argument sticks in people’s minds and that swing voters get buyers remorse—since Obama has already won in a lot of people’s minds. That may be why McCain is closing in some polls. The moderate Republicans I talk to liked McCain 8 years ago, but not anymore — and they can’t stand Palin.
