By Vernon Chatman and John Lee
From an interview with Gordon Lish by Vernon Chatman and John Lee, in the January issue of The Believer. Chatman and Lee, creators of the television programs Wonder Showzen and Xavier: Renegade Angel, conducted the interview as an exchange of postcards. Lish, formerly an editor at Esquire and Knopf, currently teaches writing at the Mercantile Library in New York City. Krupp’s Lulu, his last work of fiction, was published in 2000. His story “Act” appeared in the April 2000 issue of Harper’s Magazine.
