From posts shared in February on the subreddit r/fednews, a “platform for U.S. Federal employees to discuss work-related topics, share perspectives, and stay informed.”

I work in grants and since 1/23 all grant work has stopped, so now our meetings are five minutes, instead of an hour, and we just watch old educational trainings to pass the time.

My supervisor received a notification from building management that an “unknown” General Services Administration employee terminated our lease, and we have to move out by the end of the fiscal year.

One of my lowers was let go today by the manager. My biotech cried, my supervisor cried—hell, I cried.

I was randomly selected to take the employee-retention survey.

I can’t focus, I can’t sleep, I can’t eat. The stress has made me physically sick.

Every day is like an eight-hour funeral service. Over and over, like the movie Groundhog Day.

At this point, I feel like I’ve reached an almost apathy.

Staring at Outlook. Watching other people being walked out. Waiting for my turn.

I was terminated.

They made us wait all the way until noon. We did not even sign any separating paperwork. Just handed our equipment back to whoever’s in charge in the office and went home.

I received an email that my termination was rescinded.

I’ve never seen so many people outside smoking cigarettes at once.
