U.S. Attorneys Scandal—Little Rock

Karl Rove protégé Tim Griffin, installed as interim U.S. attorney in Little Rock in the first round of Purgegate, had a term of 120 days, which ran out on April 20, 2007. Guess what? He’s still there. Notwithstanding Alberto Gonzales’s personal assurances that he would be replaced with a nominee put through the normal confirmation process, no legitimate replacement has appeared and the Kyle Sampson program (“gum up the works”) appears to be engaged. Senator Pryor told the Arkansas News Bureau he was convinced that Gonzales had lied to him about the Griffin appointment. Yet again, Senator Pryor is proven correct.
