Unamuno on Reason and Right in the Struggle

Adjust

You will conquer but you will not convince. You will conquer because you have excessive brute force. However, you will not convince, because to convince you must persuade. And to persuade you must have other tools, which you lack: reason and right in the struggle.

Miguel de Unamuno, rector of the University of Salamanca, in an argument with the Francoist General José Millán-Astray on October 12, 1936 (S.H. transl.)
