I don’t know much about Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand, who has reportedly been named to fill Hillary Clinton’s senate seat. But at least David Patterson didn’t turn this into a political episode of Dynasty by naming Caroline Kennedy or Andrew Cuomo.
If you missed it, here’s how the Washington Post described the Kennedy-Cuomo tussle for the senate seat:
The contest for the prized Senate seat soon turned into a sometimes vicious inter-family squabble, with an added personal dimension of bitterness — Andrew Cuomo was married to Caroline Kennedy’s cousin Kerry Kennedy until 2003, when the two had a contentious and public divorce that included tabloid-fueled accusations of infidelity.
Thankfully, the nation has been spared more of that ordeal.
