An unlikely suitor has stepped to the plate with a job offer for former Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
The Joliet JackHammers, a Will County minor-league baseball team, have offered the fallen politician a contract for the 2009 season. Team officials faxed an offer—which includes an $800-a-month salary and free lodging with a host family—to Blagojevich’s publicist this week. The ex-governor has not turned down the offer.
“I don’t yet know how serious of an offer it is or whether it is something he will pursue,” said Blagojevich publicist Glenn Selig. “But the governor is a huge baseball fan, and playing in the minor leagues is something he has wanted to do as a kid and would do for nothing.”
