As Laura Rozen and I have reported, it appears that President Obama is soon to name David Goldwyn, an adviser to oil companies and dictators, to a key administration post, where he will help shape American energy policy.
Goldwyn is currently the executive director of the U.S.-Turkmenistan Business Council, where he promotes closer ties to one of the world’s sole remaining Stalinist dictatorships. Last week, the Department of Energy sponsored a workshop “on Pipeline Integrity and Management…for the Government of Turkmenistan, as another step in advancing U.S.-Turkmen cooperation in the energy sector.” The workshop and a reception were “sponsored with the generous support of the US-Turkmenistan Business Council, Chevron, and ExxonMobil.”
