Another day, another adulterous liaison involving a Republican congressional leader who lodged at the fundamentalist frat house on C Street that passes for tax purposes as a “church.” This time it’s former Mississippi Congressman Chip Pickering, whose exploits were highlighted in an alienation of affections suit filed by his former wife in Jackson, Mississippi, on Tuesday. Pickering, the son of former federal judge Charles Pickering, Sr., was widely expected to succeed Trent Lott in the senate before his social activities in Washington got in the way.
