“Dennis Rhodes, Hawesville, Kentucky, 2013,” by Lisa Elmaleh. Elmaleh, a Harper’s Magazine contributing artist, will show her new series of tintype photographs of old-time musicians at an exhibition called American Folk, opening Thursday, July 17, at Foley Gallery in New York City. Elmaleh’s most recent work for the magazine ran with Rebecca Solnit’s “The Separating Sickness: How leprosy teaches empathy” (June 2013), Yoko Ogawa’s “Old Mrs. J” (February 2012), and as the Portfolio “Into the Shadow of These Trees” (May 2011).
