From an affidavit filed in 2022 by an FBI agent in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. In November 2023, “J.B.,” the defendant, was sentenced to eighteen months in prison.

Rentahitman.com is a website with an intake form for would-be solicitors to fill out in their own words the who, what, when, where, and why for their request of services. On June 30, 2022, the website received a submission form from a subject identifying as J.B., who voluntarily provided her email address, phone number, and physical address. J.B. indicated that she wanted to cause harm to a female identified as B.H., and voluntarily provided B.H.’s phone number, address, and Instagram account. In the portion of the submission captioned describe what services you would like performed, she wrote, “I would like her dead since she is trying to kill me.” The webmaster emailed J.B. and asked about her alias. She replied, “I didn’t want my real name out just in case this isn’t real.” J.B. was contacted by an FBI undercover employee. When asked how she wanted confirmation that the job was done, she told him that she filled that part out online. She was arrested outside a Waffle House and found to be in possession of a Ruger 380 pistol containing live rounds.
