Happy LBJ’s birthday!

Appropriately enough, the permanent sign on the wall of the Republican Convention reads, “We can do better”—the phrase John Kennedy used against Richard Nixon’s extolling of the Eisenhower years in the 1960 campaign.

Does anyone at the RNC know this? Do they care? Is it some kind of subtle tweak? (I doubt it. This is not the “subtle tweak” party nowadays. It is more the “jackboot in your face” sort of party.)
